Field performance of cryopreserved seed-derived tomato plants and post-thaw survival of viral-infected meristems

The effectiveness of different cryopreservation techniques tomato meristems isolated from viral-infected plants ‘Irishka’ cultivar was determined. pieces stem were protected with dimethyl sulfoxide and propylene glycol cooled in vapour phase liquid nitrogen (–170 °C). Acсording dehydration technique, sterile airflow 120 min. post-thaw survival rates (from 34.2 78.5 %) observerved only dehydration. We determined productivity plants, obtaned cryopreserved seeds (‘Seven’, ‘Potiron Ecarlate’ ‘Druzhba’ cultivars). observed increasing total marketable yields grown all cultivars. Total number diseased decreased by 33 ‘Seven’, it did 6.7 %, that percentage sick healthy not differ after cryopreservation.
